What Is The Public Attitude Towards Vaping In UK?

E-cigarettes are widely used as a conventional smoking cessation tool. The United Kingdom, which running ahead in vaping research has made it evident that vaping can substitute smoking to great extents. The Royal College of Physicians has explicitly stipulated that vaping is significantly less harmful than smoking. There is a great influx of people towards vaping due to the concept of it being a healthier option, a contemporary fashion, and due to addiction.

A BBC report in 2019 indicated that the number of people who vape has surged past 3.6 million, which has risen to 12.5% in a year. Most of the vapers have some kind of history of smoking. About 58% of those have given up on smoking, 40% of these do smoking and vaping, and the remaining 6% of vapors have never smoked earlier. 

Stats Based On Gender

The females of the age group 25 to 34 vape more than males of this age. However, the number reduces in the category of women between 35 to 49 relative to males who vape. Males between 16 to 24 have the highest proportion of vaping. In England and Scotland, about 12% of women smoke during pregnancy. 

Stats Based On Age

Generally, more than 6% of people aged 18, vape in the United Kingdom. People between age 25 to 34 have the highest rate of vaping overall followed by the age group of 35- 44. The people of the 25 to 34 age category also top the number of people who tried vaping but never continued vaping also fall in this age category. The previous smokers who turned to vape mostly come from the age group of 35 to 49. 

Average Of Daily E-Cigarette Consumption

About 3% of e-cigarette users vape less than once in a month, 5% of people vape once in a month, 18% vape once in a week, and about 70% vape every day.

Income

The statistics say that 36% of people with medium income vape and that of 34% of people with high income. People with medium income are more vapers than low and high income. Only 29% of people with low income vape.

Results

The demographics state that young people are not jumping on the bandwagon. The youth though have tried vaping just to give it a try but are not observed to consume extremely and frequently. The regular use in youth is rare is limited to those who were previous smokers.

As the popularity of e-cigarettes is growing, the preference for flavored e-cigarettes is propelling up. E-cigarette batteries, flavors, and mods are purchased by a mass public. The United Kingdom is the second biggest market after the United States related to e-cigarettes.
